Timetable, Schedule of Activities for 2019 General Elections Not Yet Out, says INEC

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has said that it has not yet officially released the Timetable and Schedule of Activities for the 2019 General Elections. Reacting to several enquiries from stakeholders who wanted clarification on the issue, the Commission, in a statement, noted that only the actual dates for the general elections were released.

The Commission had, in March, announced that the 2019 Presidential and National Assembly elections would hold on 16^th February, while that of the Governorship and State Assembly would hold on 2^nd March. The Commission had explained that it took the action to standardize the electoral process, ensure certainty in the dates for elections and to also allow for proper planning by stakeholders.

The statement added that only the Time Table and Schedule of Activities for the Ekiti and Osun governorship election and the Idemili North State Constituency by-election have so far been released, while that of the 2019 General Elections will be unveiled in due course.
