AIR VICE MARSHAL (Retired) Ahmed Mua’zu was born on 6th September, 1957 in Gombe State. He had his early education in Gombe, Kaduna and Maiduguri between 1964 -1975.
He joined the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) as a Potential Pilot in June 1976 and was commissioned Pilot Officer into Air Traffic Control (ATC) Specialty in 1979. He rose steadily and progressively to the professional rank of Air Vice Marshal (AVM) in 2007.He obtained his Master of Science (MSc) degree in Strategic Studies at the University of Ibadan in 2005. He voluntarily retired from service in 2013.

Air Vice Marshal Ahmed Mua’zu (Retired) – National Commissioner

AVM Mu’azu (Rtd) is a qualified ATC (Approach Radar Control) officer, holding both Civil and Military Licenses with ratings in Aerodrome, Approach Control and Approach Radar Control Positions. He was deployed to purely Air Traffic Control duties for 12 years (1979 -1991) at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Lagos and Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport, Kano respectively.
He had his basic military training at the Nigerian Defence Academy from June to December 1979; junior command and staff course at the Armed Forces Command and Staff College (AFCSC) Jaji in 1988, graduating with a B grade and an award; attended the senior command and staff course at Ghana Armed Forces Staff College (GAFSC) Teshie, Accra between 1991 and 1992 and finished well above average with a strong recommendation for appointment as a Directing Staff.
He was a member of National War College (NEC) Course 12 at the then National War College (NWC), now National Defence College (NDC), Abuja from 2003 to 2004 and graduated, again, with a strong recommendation to return to the College as a Directing Staff.
Retired AVM Mua’zu also served in various Command and Staff appointments within the NAF and in Tri-service establishments. Notable among these are: Directing Staff (Dept of Air Warfare), AFCSC Jaji, 1992 to 1995; Military Assistant to Chief of Defence Staff, 1998 to 1999; Chief Instructor – AFCSC Jaji, 2000 to 2003; Commander NAF Base Makurdi 2004 to 2006; Commander NAF Base Kaduna, 2006 to 2007; Director Recruitment NAF Headquarters, 2007; Director Production (Defence Headquarters) 2007 to 2008; Air Officer Inspection (in charge of Standards Evaluation and Safety) NAF Headquarters, 2008 to 2010; and Commandant, AFCSC, Jaji 2010 to 2012.
He was also a member, Special Military Tribunal, Jos in 1997 won a number of awards, which include: Officer of Order of the Niger (OON); Distinguished Service Star (DSS); Passed Staff Course Dagger (psc(+)).; Fellow of the War College (fwc)
He is married with children and grand children.
