The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has presented Certificates of Return to seven winners of the National Assembly bye-elections held on Saturday, August 16, 2025.
The presentation ceremony took place at the Commission’s Headquarters in Abuja on Thursday, August 21, 2025. National Commissioners presented the certificates to the newly elected lawmakers, who will represent various constituencies across the country in the Senate and House of Representatives.
National Commissioner supervising the South East Mr. Kenneth Ukeagu presented the Certificate of Return to Mr. Nwachukwu Emmanuel Chibuzor of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), winner of the Anambra South Senatorial District bye-election.
National Commissioner, Professor Rhoda Gumus presented Certificates of Return to Ikpea Joseph Igiagbe, Senator-elect for Edo Central, and Igbinedion Omosede Gabriella, House of Representatives member-elect for Ovia Southwest, both of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Prof. Abdullahi Zuru, National Commissioner supervising the North West, presented the certificate to Mukhtar Rabiu Garki, winner of the Bubura/Garki constituency in Jigawa State, also of the APC.
Mallam Kudu Haruna presented the certificate to Joseph Bagudu, elected to represent Chikun/Kajuru Federal Constituency in Kaduna State under the All Progressives Congress.
In the same vein, the National Commissioner supervising the South West, Professor Kunle Ajayi, presented Certificates of Return to Elegbeji Adesola Yetunde Ayoola, elected to represent Ikene/Shagamu/Remo North Federal Constituency in Ogun State, and Oyekunle Fola Sunday, representing the Ibadan North Federal Constituency. Both won on the platform of the APC.
The winners of the State Constituency bye-elections are scheduled to receive their Certificates of Return from the Resident Electoral Commissioners (RECs) of their respective states on Friday, 22nd August 2025.
