ECONEC team canvasses UNDP’s support for Cote d’Ivoire’s polls

Fresh from observing Liberia’s general elections held on 10th October, Head of the ECOWAS Network of Electoral Commissions (ECONEC) and Chair, Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) of Nigeria, Prof Mahmood Yakubu, in company with INEC and ECONEC officials earlier today met with the United Nations Development Programme’s (UNDP) Coordinator and Resident Representative in Cote d’Ivoire, Mr Babacar Cisse to advocate for support for the Commission Electorale Independante of Cote’d’Ivoire (CEI).

The ECONEC/INEC teams have already met with CEI officials, Civil Society Groups and the Committee in charge of funds mobilization as part its the NEEDS Assessment and solidarity visit at the instance of the CEI.

Cote d’Ivoire holds Regional and Municipal polls in June.
