INEC Redeploys Two RECs, Eight Directorate Level Staff

Tuesday 16th August 2022.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced the redeployment of two Resident Electoral Commissioners (RECs) and eight directorate-level staff.

According to a statement by National Commissioner and Chairman, Information and Voter Education Committee (IVEC), Barrister Festus Okoye dated 16th August 2022, the REC, Cross River State, Dr Cyril Omorogbe was redeployed to Akwa Ibom State, while his Edo State counterpart, Dr Alalibo Johnson Sinikiem will now take charge as REC, Cross River State. 

At the same time, the Director, Planning Monitoring Department at the Commission’s headquarters, Engineer Paul Omokore, will take over as Director, ICT while the erstwhile ICT Director, Engineer Chidi Nwafor was moved to Enugu State as Administrative Secretary.

Mr. Chima Duruku, who until now was the Administrative Secretary, Anambra State, has been redeployed as Director, Planning and Monitoring Department at the headquarters. He will be replaced by Mr. Jude Okwuanu, who until now was the Administrative Secretary, Enugu State.

Others affected include the Acting Director, Human Resource Management at the headquarters, Mr. Usman Musa Wase, who was reassigned to Nasarawa State as the Acting Administrative Secretary; a Director in the Electoral Operations Department, Mr. Salisu Garba, who will now take charge as Director of Procurement at the headquarters; Acting Administrative Secretary, Federal Capital Territory (FCT), now redeployed to the headquarters as Acting Director, Human Resource Management; and the Administrative Secretary, Nasarawa State, Mr. Godwin Edibo, who will henceforth function as the Acting Administrative Secretary, FCT.

The redeployments and postings are with immediate effect. The statement noted that the handing and taking over should be concluded on or before Friday 26th August 2022.

It will be recalled that the Commission had, on 24th March 2022, redeployed 385 staff nationwide and had, on that occasion announced that the action would become a routine exercise.
