The Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) for Lagos State, Mr Sam Olumekun has assured Lagosians of the Commission’s preparedness to conduct a credible Eti-Osa by-election scheduled for 30th September.
Mr Olumekun, who successfully conducted the last Edo State governorship election, where he also served as the REC, gave the assurance on 20th September after visiting the Eti-Osa Local government office to ascertain the level of preparedness for the election.
He told journalists that the death of Mr. Kazeem Alimi, who represented the local government in the Lagos State House of Assembly made it mandatory for the Commission to conduct the by-election. He said the officials that would undertake the election were on stand-by, while non-sensitive materials were already being received.
