We Will Publish CVR Statistics On Commission’s Website, Says INEC Chairman

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has said it would soon publish the statistics of the on-going nationwide Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise on its website for public scrutiny.

Chairman of the Commission, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, made the disclosure during the colloquium and report unveiling ceremony organized by the Independent Service Delivery Monitoring Group (ISDMG) in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory on 28th March.

Prof. Yakubu said the planned uploading of the Voter Register on the Commission’s website was for the sake of transparency and openness. He called on Nigerians to use the opportunity of the on-going display of register of voters and the uploading of same on the Commission’s website to scrutinize the register and assist INEC in cleaning it up.

He said: “Let me, for the sake of transparency and openness, tell you that the entire number of registered voters by distribution will be uploaded on our website before the end of this week. We will provide details of how many people were registered per state.”

The INEC Chairman listed the 11 leading states in the on-going CVR exercise as: Rivers, Anambra, Borno, Delta, Lagos, Cross River, Osun, Enugu, Kano and Plateau. He called on citizens to own the processes involved in the electoral space He said the Commission was committed to ensuring that the 2019 general elections met the yearnings and aspirations of Nigerians.
