Anambra 2017: INEC deploys election violence mitigation tool

In preparation for a successful governorship election in Anambra State on 18th November, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has concluded plans to deploy the Election Violence Mitigation and Advocacy Tool (EVMAT).

The process commenced today in Akwa, the state capital, with a Methodology Workshop organized for field workers who will administer research instruments for data gathering.

After the fieldwork, the data collected will then be analyzed and uploaded to the EVMAT database at The Electoral Institute (TEI), to help Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) and others in Risk Mapping, Violence Mitigation and Advocacy for the election.

Those who spoke at the workshop include National Commissioner, Prof. Okechukwu Ibeanu, Resident Electoral Commissioner for Niger State, Prof, Sam Egwu and Acting Director-General, TEI, Dr Sa’ad Umar Idris.
