Heads of Voter Education & Publicity Department (VEP) of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) from the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), will converge on Ibadan, the Oyo State capital on 11th September to discuss “Modalities for the Implementation of Weekly Radio Programmes,” to be aired by some radio stations across the country between October and December 2017.
According to the Commission’s statement dated 9th September, the outcome of the meeting is expected to strengthen its Voter Education initiatives and enhance stakeholders’ participation in the electoral process.
The General Manager, Kwara Radio and Television Corporation, Mr. Adewale Adebowale will speak on Maximising Radio and Television Programmes for Voter Education, while the Director, VEP, Mr. Oluwole Osaze-Uzzi will present a paper titled: Expansion of Duties of Assistant Electoral Officers, Administration at Local Government Authorities (LGAs) to Include Voter Education. He will also discuss the review of voter education messages as part of preparations towards the 2019 general elections.
Dignitaries expected at the event include Prince Adedeji Soyebi, National Commissioner and Chairman, Information and Voter Education Committee (IVEC), and Mr. Mohammed Haruna, National Commissioner and member, IVEC.
